UK-based Ghanaian Maame Pokua disclosed that he spent £7800 to bring her boyfriend to the UK and she returned home from work one day to an empty apartment. He was gone.
Speaking with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Pokua mentioned that a friend introduced him to her and started talking for months before his arrival. She decided to bring him and formally introduced himself to her family before leaving Ghana.
Pokua mentioned that they first met at the airport when he arrived, but they had grown to like each other. Maame Pokua did not have a stay permit but came in with a work permit.
“It was a game of chances because we had never met before. It was a big risk but I liked him and was ready to make it work. But he would not talk to me. He would sit somewhere else whenever I sat by him.
So, I told him if he did not love me, he could go and that I wouldn’t force him to marry me. We argued on the phone one time and when I returned, he was gone. He left without a note. Later I found out that he was with a friend in Scotland,” she narrated.
According to Pokua, she spent almost £13,000 on her boyfriend before and after his arrival in the UK. After their breakup, she demanded that he pay back the amount spent.
