Ghanaian Farmer, Veggie Fada as he is often called revealed that he could earn about GHS20,000 every four days harvesting tomatoes.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Ghana, Veggie Fada mentioned that he had established a record label with an artiste but quit after a hurdle and moved into agribusiness.
Sharing his four-year experience on the show, he indicated that he failed in his first year in agriculture and lost all his investments but he said, “What kept me was the fact that I failed. I lost everything and started again but travelled to many farms to learn because I couldn’t find much information online.”
As his name suggests, Veggie Fada grows mostly vegetables on 20 acres of land. According to the farmer, he makes GHS20,000 harvesting tomatoes every four days per acre.
Speaking on the challenges of farming in Ghana, as he is privately known, Glory Kwaku stated price fluctuations are the cause of many agribusinesses collapsing. Despite the tests, Veggie Fada is not discouraged.
“Market women determine the price of our produce. No profit is made if the investment is GHS1000 and the produce is sold for less. We have no option than to sell because it is perishable.”
