Stephen Yeboah, a Ghanaian living in the UK, stated that he left behind his business in Ghana for the UK and has been unhappy since he arrived.
Mr Yeboah mentioned that despite his successful business in Ghana, he believed working abroad would be better and joined her wife in travelling to the UK. However, he only realised living and working in Ghana are better after experiencing the UK.
“I’ve not been happy since I got here, although my wife and I have jobs now. You may get the money, but there is no job in Ghana that is more difficult than we do here. The construction jobs in Ghana may be hard, but it cannot be compared to a warehouse job here.
You’ll get the money but spend most on rent and bills. Ghana is not as bad as we think when you come here. If you have a job or business in Ghana, don’t bother travelling,” he said on SVTV Africa.
Peaking with DJ Nyaami, Stephen advised the Ghanaian youth to shun the perception that they can only succeed abroad and not in Ghana. He encouraged them to focus on building their lives in Ghana because “living in the UK is more difficult than in Ghana. There are countless Ghanaians here who are currently jobless.”
“Nothing motivates me or makes me happy here. I will return to Ghana to continue my business. I don’t have any plans of staying in the UK permanently,” Stephen noted.
