US-based Ghanaian Odehyieba has advised Ghanaians and africans to return to Africa to build the continent with the money and knowledge they have acquired in the West.
The journalist travelled to Australia in 2018 and moved to China to stay and study “their system and how they’ve built their country with industrial revolution.”
In an interview on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Odehyieba mentioned that Ghanaians will never have the freedom or be truly happy in a foreign country and encouraged them to return to build the nation.
“Only one out of 1000 (Africans) can stay in this country and be truly happy. You can never have total freedom as a black man in America. If it is the money we want, let’s gather it with the knowledge and return home. But nine out of ten are unable to go back home to stay.
I will return to Ghana because no matter what you do, you’re not from here. Your passport will always say you were born in Ghana, and you’re in no position to fight that. They’ve built their country already, and we need to learn from them to build ours too,” he noted.
Many Africans neglect to invest in the continent, instead solely focusing on making money, according to Odehyieba. He reiterated the need to return home because “the old people we are leaving behind cannot build the country. That is why I’m learning to create employment to help myself and the people.”
