Shaiba Kabore, a retired Ghanaian footballer, revealed that his childhood friend sponsored his move to the UK and provided him with free accommodation.
Speaking on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Shaiba mentioned that his best friend, Isaac Siaw Mensah, also a retired footballer stayed in touch with him for years after he travelled abroad.
Shaiba retired from football early because he was struggling financially despite his fame. Isaac Mensah promised to take him to the UK, and he eventually fulfilled his promise.
“People usually say when friends travel abroad, they forget where they came from. My friend stayed in communication with me for 11 years. I was with him whenever he came home. One day, he told me about his plan to take me to the UK.
He planned everything, and within two weeks, I was in the UK. My friend brought me to his house and gave me the house he lived in to stay. I don’t know what to tell him for all he’s done for me.”
Moreover, Shaiba shared his experience of living in the UK and how the move has been beneficial to him.
