Duke Osei, a Ghanaian based in the US, revealed that he sold his properties, quit his luxury job and became a warehouse worker in America.
In an SVTV AFRICA interview, Mr Osei mentioned that he quit his marketing executive job with great perks to travel abroad, but he cried when he arrived in the US. Duke said his boss was unhappy with his decision to travel, but his mind was made up.
“I worked there for 15 years and was transferred to Tamale as an Area Manager for five years. I was given a furnished three-bedroom house and a Ford Ranger. I didn’t pay bills or buy fuel. I enjoyed all these privileges, but I thought the grass was greener on the other side.
I returned to Tema as the general manager with the same perks. The director was disappointed when I told him about travelling but could not stop me. He even paid for my ticket to the US,” he narrated.
According to Duke Osei, he cried when he realised that he had to start life all over. He regretted his decision. Duke spent the money he brought on rent and bills and eventually started a job stacking boxes.
“My rent alone was almost $1000. Leaving my luxury job that paid better, with commission, house and car to stack boxes in America. I cried. I stand in the corner of my bedroom and shed tears. I told my dad I wanted to go back, but my father told me to stay and work it out,”
