UK-based Ghanaian Janice disclosed that her ex-husband divorced her because he felt insecure about her.
In a chat with DJ Nyaami on SVTV AFRICA, Janice revealed that she met her ex-husband at 16 in the Netherlands and eventually got pregnant, but he was deported. After childbirth, she worked menial jobs to pay for his process to join her.
“I didn’t know I was pregnant until we moved to the UK. Four months after I gave birth, we got married and started the process for him to come too. Four kids later, I wanted to further my education since I dropped out. I couldn’t do cleaning jobs when I was born in the Netherlands.
That was where all our problems began. He often complained that I’d changed. I lost weight and gained self-confidence, but he wanted me to remain an overweight housewife. He started restricting me,” she said.
Moreover, Janice felt emotionally and mentally abused in the marriage. Before the divorce, Janice noted she wanted them to seek counselling, but he refused.
“It affected my health. So when we finally got a divorce, I felt relieved. I have four kids now. I won’t marry again,” she said on Daily Hustle Worldwide.
