Spain-based Ghanaian Afriyie Amponsah stated that many Ghanaians abroad lie about their living conditions on social media.
Afriyie believes some Ghanaians abroad often talk about life abroad as perfect and mislead the youth into dangerous routes to Europe.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Afriyie indicated that most have no working documents and live off others but live fake lives on social media.
“You’re safe if you travel with documents. Ask how people without permits live in Europe. Ask if they’re okay. They lie on social media. They live a tough life, and some even wish they were in Ghana.
Those without permits suffer the most. They mention huge amounts as their salary but ask how much they spend on themselves. Only a few are homeowners,” he said.
Afriyie stayed in three countries including France and Netherlands, before settling in Spain. He chose Spain because the system there was more favourable than the other countries.
