Madam Irene Lamptey: Transforming Ghana’s Fruit Business with Quench Natural Juice
Madam Irene Lamptey, the founder of Quench Natural Juice, is a Ghanaian entrepreneur dedicated to promoting healthy fruit consumption through fresh juices, smoothies, and dried fruits. Her business focuses on sourcing quality fruits, processing them into nutritious products, and making them accessible to people who may not consume enough fruits regularly.
On SVTV Africa’s Business Link with DJ Nyaami Irene revealed that she started her fruit business in July 2020, marking nearly five years in the industry. Despite having a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, she chose entrepreneurship over a traditional white-collar job. She studied at KNUST, worked in the oil and gas industry for three years, and later pursued her master’s degree in South Africa. Even before graduating, she knew she wanted to build her own business.
The COVID-19 pandemic was the turning point for her. She saw an opportunity to start her fruit business and refused to let discouragement stop her. With an initial capital of GHC 3,000, she bought a freezer and began operations. Today, her business has grown significantly, far exceeding her initial investment.
Initially, Irene sourced fruits from Agbogbloshie Market, but as demand increased, she expanded her operations to buy directly from farms. Over time, she gained experience, adapted to challenges, and invested more in the business. She now employs 12 workers, paying them monthly salaries.
Her approach to hiring and managing employees has been key to the success of her business. She values punctuality, dedication, and a positive work ethic, ensuring that her employees are happy and motivated. Although she acknowledges that salaries could be improved with more resources, she remains committed to growing the business and rewarding her team.
Irene faced skepticism from peers and family who believed she should seek a corporate job instead of selling fruits. However, she remained determined and even sold juice in traffic to build her brand. Today, Quench Natural Juice has a strong reputation for providing fresh, high-quality products, including:
- Raw fruit juices – watermelon juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, and more.
- Dried fruits – convenient, healthy snacks.
- Smoothies – blended fruit drinks for nutrition and energy.
Quench Natural Juice operates primarily online, using social media and digital marketing to reach customers. They deliver products across Ghana, with a GHC 35 delivery fee within Accra. The business caters to funerals, weddings, and other events, where demand for fresh juice is high.
Many of her former colleagues, who initially laughed at her career choice, now admire her success. She employs people and provides opportunities for others, proving that entrepreneurship can be just as rewarding as traditional employment.
Irene encourages young people to find their vision, stay committed, and seek solutions to real problems. While starting a business comes with struggles, persistence and faith will lead to success. She also highlights the misconceptions about social media influencers, noting that true success requires hard work, not just online fame.
Looking ahead, Quench Natural Juice plans to expand internationally within the next five years. Irene has already traveled to several countries and believes that Ghana’s fruits are among the tastiest in the world. She aims to export her products to Dubai, Australia, and beyond, taking Ghanaian fruit juices global.
Beyond business, Irene loves food, especially waakye and fufu, which she pairs with her fresh juices for a unique taste.
Quench Natural Juice is a brand known for quality, fast response times, and reliable delivery, making it a trusted name in Ghana’s fruit and beverage industry.
