A police officer appeared as a guest on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle GH with DJ Nyaami, sharing his devastating experience with gambling on Aviator. According to him, a friend introduced him to the game, and although he was initially not into betting, he decided to try it on his phone.
The first time he played, he lost money and stopped. However, he later tried again, and one night, he kept playing until the next morning, losing a significant amount of money. The experience has left him mentally drained and unstable. As a security personnel, he admitted that gambling has severely affected him, making him feel like he has lost his dignity and failed to act responsibly.
He struggled to talk to anyone about it, as he had never shared his gambling problem with anyone—not even his family or wife. Over time, he lost a little over GHC 30,000, including GHC 10,000 just the day before his interview. He had used his life savings and even taken out a loan meant for an important purpose but ended up spending it all on Aviator. Now, he is still paying off the debt and feels overwhelmed by the financial and emotional burden.
He explained that the money was initially meant for a business, but a phone call from his wife made him realize he had no money left. At that moment, he felt irresponsible and guilty for not considering his family’s well-being. He lives separately from his family, and they have no idea what he is going through. He believes gambling was like an initiation that took control of his life, making him feel possessed.
Now, he is ready to seek help and overcome his addiction. DJ Nyaami advised him to delete the Aviator app, see it as an enemy, and shift his mindset. He emphasized that gambling is not a spiritual issue but rather a false hope that can lead to financial ruin.
The police officer urged others to stay away from Aviator and similar gambling activities. He also promised to take full responsibility for his actions and make better decisions moving forward.
