In a follow-up interview on Business Link with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Akua Mahamadu, a roasted maize seller, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to those who supported her after her previous interview on Daily Hustle GH two months ago.
Akua Mahamadu thanked the kind individuals who helped her and her family, praying for blessings upon them. She revealed that she received GHS 6,000 in donations from well-wishers. In her last interview, she had mentioned wanting to sell onions, but due to high prices, she decided to wait until prices dropped before making a purchase.
Although she has money set aside, her living conditions remain difficult. She currently sleeps in a kiosk with her children and fears they may soon be evicted. Her biggest need now is a small plot of land where she can relocate her kiosk and secure a stable home for her family.
At 70 years old, Akua Mahamadu continues to work hard to provide for her children.She has sold Roasted Corn 49 years, She sells fresh maize, but due to limited supply, she can only sell small quantities. She noted that patience is rare in today’s world and warned against the dangers of excessive drinking and smoking.
She recalled how, in the past, she could barely afford to eat, and taking care of her children was an immense struggle. However, with the support she has received, her situation has slightly improved.
Akua Mahamadu expressed her deep appreciation for DJ Nyaami, SVTV Africa, and everyone who has helped her in the past. However, she still urgently needs a place to stay.
