Sammi’s Journey in Bulgaria: A Story of Hard Work and Success
Sammi, a Ghanaian native, shared his inspiring journey from Ghana to Bulgaria in an interview with DJ Nyaami on the Daily Hustle Worldwide show.
Since leaving Ghana in 2017, Sammi has built a thriving life in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he pursued his master’s degree and now earns an average monthly income of $2,500.
As a former teacher and trader in Ghana, Sammi made the bold decision to travel abroad after his divorce.
Sammi revealed during an interview with DJ Nyaami that his decision to travel to Bulgaria was influenced by personal challenges.
After going through a divorce with his first wife, with whom he had two children, Sammi decided to start a new chapter in life abroad.
With the help of his friends, he migrated to Bulgaria, where he eventually met and married a Bulgarian woman. The couple is now happily married and has children together.
He had a friend in Bulgaria who frequently sent him goods like laptops to sell in Ghana.
Sammi’s honesty and dedication earned him his friend’s trust, which eventually opened the door for him to migrate.
To secure his visa, Sammi traveled to Lagos and Abuja for interviews, a process he encourages others to embrace if given the chance.
Sammi enrolled at New Bulgarian University, where he was able to pay his tuition upon arrival, easing the financial burden.
Bulgaria’s use of the leva currency and its affordable tuition fees make it an attractive destination for international students.
Upon arrival, students receive residence permits allowing them to work full-time, which Sammi utilized to support himself.
His first job was as a waiter in a hotel, followed by a position at a call center. With his IT certificate, Sammi eventually secured a stable and well-paying job, further cementing his success.
In 2017, Sammi met his Bulgarian wife, and they have been happily married since. Reflecting on Bulgarian culture, Sammi highlighted the genuine love and support offered by locals once they accept you.
He has visited Ghana twice since his move, with his most recent visit being three years ago to attend his father’s funeral while continuing to work remotely.
Sammi emphasized that education is a “shortcut to Europe.” He urged Ghanaians to consider studying in Bulgaria, where universities offer affordable courses and countless opportunities.
He also noted Bulgaria’s recent status as a full Schengen member, making it easy to travel to neighboring European countries such as Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
By staying in Bulgaria for five years, one can automatically qualify for citizenship. Sammi encouraged students to take additional affordable courses after graduation to extend their stay and secure this opportunity.
Sammi’s journey is a testament to the rewards of hard work, honesty, and perseverance. He encourages those aspiring to travel abroad to take advantage of educational opportunities and trust in their abilities to succeed.
As Sammi said,
“The shortcut to Europe is education,” and his story proves how education, determination, and the right support system can transform one’s life.
