Stranded in Indonesia: Kyei Baffour’s $10,000 Japan Dream Turned Nightmare
Kyei Baffour, a former sprinter driver and electrician from Akyem Kyease, Ghana, recently shared his harrowing experience in an exclusive interview with the CEO and founder of SVTC Africa, on the Daily Hustle Worldwide show.
Baffour, who once worked as a wiring technician in Ghana, was eager to expand his horizons and travel to Japan.
His journey, however, took an unexpected and painful turn.

Baffour’s brother, who is currently living in Japan, introduced him to a man he believed could help him secure a trip to Tokyo.
With hopes high and dreams of a fresh start in Japan, Baffour sold his sprinter bus for $4000 and borrowed additional funds $4000 to raise a total of $8,000.
His brother also contributed $2,000, bringing the total amount to $10,000.
This sum was handed over to the so-called “connection man,” a supposed agent who assured Baffour that he would facilitate his travel to Japan.
However, the trip did not unfold as promised.
Baffour was told that the journey would involve a brief transit in Indonesia before reaching Japan.
Yet, upon arrival, it became clear that there would be no further travel to Japan. Instead, Baffour found himself stranded in Indonesia, with no means to return home and no one to turn to for help.

Despite numerous attempts to contact the agent, who continued to lie about the situation, Baffour was left in a foreign country without support.
After more than six months, he decided to report the agent to the Kasoa Police Station, but the deception continued.
For 11 months, Baffour remained in Indonesia, his dreams shattered and his money gone.
His story serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of trusting dubious agents and the harsh realities faced by many seeking a better life abroad.
Today, Kyei Baffour shares his experience in the hope that others will learn from his mistakes and avoid falling victim to similar scams.
