Afro, a Ghanaian based in Germany has stated that many Ghanaians living in Germany are not rich as people assume, adding that only one or two in ten Ghanaians may have €10,000 saved in their bank account.
In a Daily Hustle Worldwide chat Afro indicated that he was comfortable in Ghana with his business. Still, he believed travelling abroad was a better option until he got to Germany.
According to Afro, he used to spend €300 (equivalent to cedis) on a weekend while in Ghana. However, despite earning Euros now, he cannot afford to spend that much because it has become difficult to get such an amount.
“On a weekend alone in Ghana, I would buy goat meat and drinks to hang out with family and friends. When I converted that money to euros, I realised it was about €300. It is not easy to get that amount in Ghana.
Some people in Ghana spend over €10,000 to come to Germany but many of us here in Germany do not have that amount saved. We don’t even save in the bank,” he stated.
