Ama Serwaa, a young Ghanaian farmer has urged the youth to shun their degrees to succeed or make more money.
Ama is a nurse awaiting posting. While waiting to be posted by the Ministry of Health, she started farming to support herself. Currently, she grows vegetables and serves her customers through social media orders.
In a chat on SVTV Africa, Ama Serwaa mentioned that most youths prefer to be paid salaries and are unwilling to venture into agriculture. However, it is the most lucrative business in Ghana.
“The youth think they are above farming. We disregard farming as a dirty job but that is where the money is. We need to change our mindset. There is so much money around us but we think those jobs are beneath us.”
“If you want to make good money, forget your degrees and certificates. Salaried jobs are good but you can’t compare it to having a business,” she advised.
