Richard Tabiri, a Ghanaian based in the US disclosed why he quit the Ghana Army after 19 years to join the US Army.
Mr Tabiri was part of the President’s Own Guard Regiment, an infantry regiment of the Ghana Army. He served in Ghana for 19 years as a medical officer, where he gained extensive experience and training.
During his military career, he had the privilege of working at the Jubilee House, the official presidential residence and office in Ghana, as a key member of the president’s security detail.
In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, he highlighted the vast array of opportunities available in the United States, emphasizing how different the military operations are between Ghana and the US.
Richard noted that the operational strategies, resources, and overall military culture vary significantly, reflecting the distinct environments and expectations of each country. His insights reveal not only the professionalism he experienced in his role but also a deep appreciation for the career potentials that exist in the US.
“Aside from that, the money is good. My 6 months salary here will be more than my ex-gratia in the Ghana Army.
