US-based Ghanaian Theresa Amofa disclosed that she was unhappy in her marriage but she stayed in the marriage for years in fear of societal judgment.
In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Theresa revealed that she often felt a profound absence of happiness within the relationship. Despite this, she endured the challenges due to her concerns about societal judgment and what others would say.
Reflecting on her experiences, Theresa admitted that she never anticipated becoming a divorcee; however, she emphasized that she has no regrets about her marriage. She has come to terms with the lessons learned and the personal growth that resulted from that chapter of her life.
Theresa mentioned that her ex-husband accused her of bringing him to the United States to exploit him. However, she firmly countered his claims, stating that she never took any money from him and never intended to treat him unfairly.
“My ex-husband said those things for pity. He even told people that I locked him out of the house and he had to sleep in his car but they were all lies,” she said.
