Former Kingdom FM presenter Boadiwaa, known popularly as Afia Fabregas disclosed that after dedicating years to the radio industry, the only remuneration she received amounted to Ghs1200.
In an interview with SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami, Fabregas mentioned that working in the radio industry was a struggle as she refused to engage in illicit behaviour for money. According to her, many assumed she was well-to-do because of the platforms she mounted.
“I had a side hustle selling food in the morning by the roadside. I quickly rushed to Rainbow Radio for the afternoon show. My baby daddy was also supporting me as well. I got GHS500 twice and GHS220.
That’s all I ever got from working in the industry. I would have gained more if I did what others did. I wanted to live according to what I have and not what people assumed I had.”
While she was able to gain popularity, Boadiwaa found herself struggling financially. As a result, she decided to leave her radio career behind and embark on a journey to Germany for greener pastures.
Afia Fabregas travelled to Germany, where she stayed for two weeks before returning to Ghana. In the video below, Fabregas disclosed why she returned to Ghana after only two weeks.
