Russia-based Ghanaian Dr Kofi Frimpong disclosed that he contemplated suicide while in medical school in Russia.
Speaking on Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami, Dr Frimpong shared the struggles of living in another country and how he became frustrated and almost gave up in Russia.
According to Dr Frimpong, he decided to study in Russia due to the affordable cost of education and prepared before leaving. However, the school fees had been increased without his knowledge.
“I couldn’t pay the fees and was at risk of getting deported. I couldn’t go to the hostels either. In the course of that, I applied for a German visa but they denied it. It was my last resort. I left the embassy and saw a Metro station.
I just walked into the train station and thought of throwing myself onto the rail line. The thought of my mother hearing of my death stopped me from committing suicide. I regret that day because things changed drastically.”
Dr Kofi Frimpong also shared how he persevered and graduated with a job offer ready. Moreover, he spoke about life in Russia as a foreigner. He is married to a German woman.
