US-based Ghanaian Dorcas disclosed that her husband never asked her to pay or support with utilities and she only realised it was a big dent in his finances after he left for deployment.
In a chat with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Dorcas indicated that she kept her salary and only supported when she wanted while her husband was present. However, she had to pay the bills upon his departure and realised her husband ‘suffered.’
“Sometimes he would complain about the bill being too high but I just consoled him. After he left, he still sent money for the bills but I had to pay. That was when I realised he was suffering but never complained.
He wants us to have comfort and does everything to ensure that. The respect I had for him increased. As a result, Dorcas tries to conserve energy to reduce the cost. He won’t ask me to pay but I can help lessen his burden,” she said on Daily Hustle Worldwide.
Moreover, Dorcas added that a marriage is more peaceful if the husband pays the bills. She believes most women will grow tired if they pay bills and perform their duties as a wife.
