Maame Fosua, a UK-based Ghanaian stated that she was more at ease running my business in Ghana than being an employee in the UK.

In response to why she decided to travel abroad despite the comfort and success she enjoyed, Maame Fosua indicated that she became frustrated after losing her capital in an investment. This was a substantial setback for her, significantly impacting her business and personal finances.

“I made a lot in weekly sales but lost all that investment. I was not discouraged even after that setback. It was a big loss. I lost about Ghs160,000 but I continued with my business. The business began dwindling and to make more on my little, I decided to travel abroad to exploit the opportunities here.”

Speaking on her expectations about the UK, Maame Fosua said, “I thought I was coming to make about £5000 but it was way less. I started a cleaning job and moved up to an office job but quit due to racial attacks.”
