Canada-based Ghanaian Gloria disclosed that he worked as a nurse in Ghana for 8 years but her salary was not enough for a secure future for her or her kids.
Gloria mentioned that her only option for a better future was to travel out of the country. Speaking with DJ Nyaami, Gloria revealed that she earned GHS3000 monthly and ran a business on the side but it could not give her the future she wanted.
“Working as a nurse sometimes felt like we wore the uniform for fun. Even with a side hustle, it was not enough for the future that I wanted for myself and my kids. I had to travel abroad for a better future for my kids.
I researched opportunities abroad and applied to study here in Canada,” she said.
Gloria has been in Canada for about 7 months. She told SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami about her time there, the cultural shocks and the realities of studying and living abroad.
“I had a work permit but I was jobless for four months. My parents had to send me money from Ghana for my rent and upkeep. It was tough in the beginning. What I anticipated was different from what I was experiencing.
