Ghanaian based in the UK Gucci Derkyi stated that he would rather die in the UK riots than return to Ghana.
Speaking on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Gucci revealed that he was almost attacked in a shopping mall and could not go out. However, he believes he is better off in the UK than in Ghana.
“I haven’t changed my mind about not returning to Ghana. I would rather stay here and be beaten in the riots than return to Ghana. I’m scared for my life and I can’t go out. I live in a White-dominated community, so it’s worse here.
Three protesters approached me at a shopping mall recently and I told them off and left. Despite all this happening, I haven’t had a change of mind. I still stand on my grounds. I won’t leave the UK for Ghana.”
According to CBC News on July 31, British police charged a 17-year-old with murder over a stabbing attack that left three girls dead and several others in critical condition in Southport. This has caused outrage among the citizens leading to the protests and riots.
