Akosua, a young female truck driver disclosed that she quit her Financial Analyst job to become a truck driver.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Akosua mentioned that she has worked with several companies but decided to quit when she found an interest in truck driving.
“I graduated from Kumasi Polytechnic and did two more years for a degree. I worked with a company for a while and the interest in truck driving hit me. My truck driver female friend abroad encouraged me to learn harder. I met a few female truck drivers and it sparked my interest.”
Akosua has worked as a truck driver for a year. She mentioned that it took six months to drive the truck due to her persistence and perseverance.
Speaking on her challenges, she said, “It was tough in the beginning. Rest is one thing we advocate for. I have a day off only when we are not loading I don’t think about it too much because we want to get the company to a higher level.”
Akosua currently drives a fuel tanker. According to her, people often gift her money when they see her driving the truck.
