Denmark-based Ghanaian Felix shared his travel experience from Morocco to Spain on a boat and his reasons for leaving Ghana.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Felix revealed that he was forced to leave the country for greener pastures abroad despite his little interest in travelling abroad. Felix came from a poor background and had to work his way through secondary school.
As a result, he decided to travel abroad and sought advice from his uncle in the UK who advised him to go through the Libya-Italy route. Felix added that he joined some acquaintances in Libya who were travelling to Morocco.
“I didn’t tell my mother when I left because I didn’t know whether I would survive. I just prayed to God to help my family if I did not survive. Four boats were making the crossing to Spain but two boats sank. We were camped on an island in Spain and eventually transported to Madrid.
At one point, a friend and I became homeless. It was a difficult time for me because I was never interested in travelling and had heard of these stories. Most of us were deported but luckily, I got their ID after learning the language,” he recounted.
After 18 years in Spain, Felix moved to Denmark for better job opportunities and pay.
