Mary, a Ghanaian living in Canada, revealed that her friend who is a hairdresser used her business as collateral to secure a loan for her trip to Canada.
In a chat on Aseda on SVTV Africa’s TikTok show, Mary stated that her friend comes first in her life before her family due to the sacrifice she made for her.
The Canada-based Ghanaian left Ghana in search of greener pastures but she did not anticipate the reality of life abroad.
“She took a loan from the bank with our shops as collateral for me to travel abroad. None of us had travelled outside Ghana before but she encouraged and sacrificed her business for me. I was jobless in my first three months in Canada, so she worked to pay.
Thankfully, my host also helped me get a job and gave me money to settle the debt because they realised I was unhappy. My friend and I are still very close and she comes first in my life even before my family. Her problem is my problem,” she shared.
