Hussein Ali, a Ghanaian based in Canada, stated that he is tired of living abroad and plans to return to Ghana next year due to his inability to obtain a temporary stay permit.
Mr Ali moved to Canada from Malta where he sought asylum upon arrival but the immigration judge refused his application claiming that Hussein was not Ghanaian.
Speaking with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Hussein said, “If you don’t think I’m Ghanaian, give me the permit so I’ll be Canadian. I’ve halted the process because the lawyer charges CAD5000. I’m saving up to return to Ghana in 2025.”
“I’ve lived abroad for too long. I think it is time I returned home to focus on establishing a business. They sent me a letter three months ago to deport me to Ghana. I’ve signed all the documents and I’m waiting for the travel certificate from the Ghana embassy.”
Hussein Ali plans on starting livestock farming in Ghana next year. He believes Agric is the best investment in Ghana now and hopes to earn a living.
He urged young people to concentrate on developing Ghana rather than seeking opportunities abroad.
