AB Crentsil’s JNR, son of the late musician AB Crentsil shared the story behind his father’s hit ‘Devil’ revealing that his predicament inspired it.
In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV AFRICA, the gospel artiste, Alfred Benjamin Crentsil JNR (AB CRENTSIL JNR) disclosed that he was bedridden for six years and underwent several surgeries in his youth. According to him, many pastors claimed his illness was spiritual.
“We visited many churches and they all said my illness was spiritual. He released ‘Devil’ during that period. I had many surgeries and was bedridden for six years.
I used a wheelchair and crutches throughout high school. I became well after I became a Christian. I never saw any improvements till after that I accepted Christ.”
Moreover, Crentsil JNR added that he was also the inspiration behind another ‘Obi ba wiase.’ He said, “I spoke to him about the emotional stress and lamenting how different I was from my siblings. He composed ‘Obi ba wiase; based on that.
AB Crentsil JNR is a gospel musician. He works as a full-time accountant at the Action Chapel. He is currently promoting ‘Gye Nyame.’
