CEO of Adams Organic Farms & Consult, Mr Adams recounted how he began his farm and why he ventured into agribusiness.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Ghana, Mr Adams disclosed that he became jobless after completing the University of Education, Winneba with a certification in Agric Science Education and decided to put to use what he studied.
Mr Adams moved to Accra hoping to get a job but could not find any. Then he started a snail farm in the backyard of his rented apartment. Soon after, he ventured into mushroom farming with GHS3000.
“I eventually found a business partner and expanded the business. I train people to start farms too and sell the point of lay snails to them to start theirs. Snail farming is not like mushrooms. It takes up to two years to get your money back and if it is not done right, you may lose the snails.
I’m better off now than when I was unemployed. Mushroom farming is one of the most lucrative businesses now. I prefer that to snail farming because you see money every day. I can harvest every two days.”
Mr Adams encouraged the youths to focus on farming as it is the backbone of the country. Moreover, he urged the government to support farmers and make it attractive to the youth.
