Mr Danso, a Ghanaian farmer disclosed that he established his livestock farming with GHS10,000 and made over GHS50,000 from catfish only.
In a Daily Hustle interview, Mr Danso mentioned that he estbalished the business right after the mandatory National Service because he saw the market demand for livestock produce and did not want to go through the hustle of searching for jobs.
With the money saved from his National Service allowance, he followed the passion for farming and began training people in farming. He said, “I started with less than GHS10,000 from my savings and the money I earned from training others.”
“I bought a land here in the Eastern Region and started with poultry. Catfish can weigh about 1 kilo and 1.2 kilo within four months if fed well. I kilo of catfish costs GHS30, so imagine if you have 5000 of them. That would be GHS150,000 but the cost of their feed is less than GHS30,000,” he disclosed.
Mr Danso has farm animals including cows, turkeys, poultry, and catfish besides his vegetable farms. He added that he made Ghs9000 within three months of growing mushrooms.
