Young Mickson, a Ghanaian based in the US stated that his Nigerian-American wife had his green card revoked while he was in Ghana for a visit.
According to Mickson, his ex-wife wanted to have possession of their houses and wrote a letter to the US immigration to cancel his permit.
In a chat on SVTV Africa, Mickson indicated that his ex-wife proposed within three years of his stay in the US and got a green card through their union. Mickson got married at 21 and worked while she studied for a degree. Soon after completing her education, she asked for separation.
“She wanted to go her and I didn’t ask questions because if you like someone, you let them have their way. But she didn’t like that. That was the beginning of our issues. We had two houses then. I visited family in Ghana around that time and upon my return, I checked my mail box.
She had written to the homeland security to have my green card revoked. It had been revoked by the time I arrived and if I could not enter the US again, it meant that she would have owned both houses,” he recounted.
Mickson sued the US immigration claiming that he had been abused by an American. The court reinstated his green card and advised him to apply for the citizenship.
