Charity Ojye, a Ghanaian based in Germany disclosed that she has been single for a while and is scared to start a new relationship because of the fear of a broken heart.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Charity revealed that other members of the Ghanaian community in her city think she is a lesbian. She refuted such claims and added that she has remained single because she feared starting a relationship despite her desire for a partner.
“I can’t date a man from Ghana. The men here are no good, so those in Ghana are far worse. I can’t risk bringing him to Germany only for him to divorce me afterwards. That is my fear. People even thought I was a lesbian because they’d never seen me with a man.
I’m scared to start afresh. That is my fear and it’s affecting me. I know I have to change and I will. Living abroad as a single mother is not fun. It is not by choice. The kids need both parents in their lives,” she said.
Charity spoke about the difficulties of living abroad as a single mother. She recounted her past relationship with her ex-husband which brought this fear.
