US-based Ghanaian Clement stated that he gave himself five years to travel abroad, specifically to America for a better understanding of life.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Clement revealed that he decided to travel abroad by road through Mexico to the US because of the information he consumed on Ghana’s local radio stations.
“After I completed SHS in 2013, I gave myself five years to work and save for my journey to the US. I listened to the radio often, and whenever our politicians spoke, they gave credit to America.
I fed myself with that kind of information and worked towards that. I needed an environment that would give me a new understanding of life and how things are done in a proper procedure. I fought my way through to make it to the US,” he told DJ Nyaami.
Moreover, Clement recounted his journey from Ecuador to the US. He stayed in Ecuador for a month and set off to Columbia, where the journey began. According to Clement, he walked for three days and disclosed that crossing the Panama jungle was the difficult part of the journey.
“I saw a heavily pregnant woman with kids making the same journey. I was tired but it gave me some energy to move on. The Panama jungle was the deadliest because there is no other route but to pass through the jungle to the next border,” he added.
