Former chef at the US Embassy in Ghana Stella Ohenewaa recounted her poor choice and expressed regrets for choosing money over a one-year visa to the US after working there for five years.
According to the chef, the US embassy gave its staff two options at the end of a five-year job tenure. To choose between a one-year US visa and money.
In a chat on SVTV Africa, Stella mentioned that she chose the money to invest in establishing a restaurant. However, she regretted it later, especially after her restaurant was demolished by the AMA.
“I needed the money because I wanted to set up a restaurant. This was in 2012. I worked there for 7 years before leaving. I did not want to work for someone anymore because I was tired.
I regret that decision now more than ever. I didn’t know I could get that amount because I needed the money. I don’t have a workplace now. I do more event catering. So weddings, funerals, etc.
Stella added that aside from the event catering, she sells local drinks in traffic whenever available.
