Nurse Abena, a Ghanaian nurse who recently relocated to Ireland, disclosed her reasons for choosing Ireland and why she may never return to Ghana to work again.
In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, the psychiatric nurse indicated that she chose the island because of the high salary, adding that nurses are paid based on their experience. Nurse Abena applied for the job after passing the English test and got a working visa within a short while.
“One thing that attracted me to Ireland was their salary. The salary is quite good because they don’t have a fixed salary you are given when you come in. We are paid based on the experience we have.
I thought it was better than choosing a country where I’d be paid the basic salary for nurses. Aside from that, I found out Ireland is a good place for family. I’m a wife and mother, so I thought this was the best place to be,” she told SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami.
In response to whether she would work in Ghana for GHS20,000 monthly, Abena said,” No. Unless it is weekly, I won’t work in Ghana for that amount.”
