UK-based Ghanaian Piesie mentioned that he was discontented with his work and salary as a teacher in Ghana and wanted to travel out for a fresh start.
In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Piesie indicated that he was uncertain about a great future for himself and his prospective family with his meagre salary. As a result, he switched careers and travelled to the UK on a care worker’s visa.
“I’m not disappointed for changing careers. I just see it as a part of the process. Honestly, I got fed up and wanted to move out. I was tired from all the combinations of jobs I was doing. I often wondered how I would start a family with my GHS1500 to GHS1700 salary.
I just needed to move out of Ghana. I don’t necessarily have to continue doing what I did in Ghana. There are numerous opportunities here, and I can’t still further my education in IT if I want to,” he said.
SVTV Africa’s DJ Nyaami quizzed Piesie on how his life has improved within two years of his stay in the UK. He said, “There have been many improvements. The British understand people sometimes and give us the platforms for life to be easier. So, I won’t tell anyone not to travel. The experience is good at the very least.”
