Ghanaian singer iOna Reine disclosed that her pastor-husband proposed marriage three days after they met on Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, iOna mentioned that her husband was a fan of her music but could not follow her journey as a secular musician because of his faith. Eventually, he discovered iOna had been born again through her Facebook posts and sent her a DM.
“He told me how my song ‘Obra’ helped during his trying times. So he knew about me but couldn’t follow me because I was a secular artist. After he found out I had changed, he sent me a message and told me all this story. He proposed on the third day. I prayed about it and got my answer the next day.
A month later, he came to Accra on my birthday to surprise me and meet my family. I knew it in my spirit that it was the right thing. I was not thinking about marriage because of how my former marriage went, but you don’t struggle too much if it’s from God.”
According to iOna, she decided to keep her marriage quiet and wanted an intimate ceremony. She only invited a few people, including colleagues from the music industry.
Speaking with iOna’s husband, Mr Okra, he revealed that he had to cut off most of his friends when he announced his marriage. he mentioned that they called her a prostitute and advised him against marrying her.
