Owura Kwadwo, a Ghanaian based in the UK, stated that many Ghanaians are fixated on travelling abroad and do not conduct thorough research or inquire about job offers.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Owura Kwadwo mentioned that most companies offering sponsorship visas do not have vacancies but process these applicants for their financial gains.
“The visa most Ghanaians come with is for care work only. So if you come with a sponsorship, that company must give you a job, but some companies do not have vacancies. Some do not even have offices but use that route to make money.
Those coming in also do not enquire about the job they’re coming to do. You can’t do care work if you are not a people person or have patience. It is either the agent misinformed them, or the excitement of coming to the UK blinded them,” he noted.
Owura Kwadwo owns a care company in the UK. He revealed that some care workers quit their jobs after a few days of work due to the stress involved. According to him, this causes problems for the care company. Also, many who came through the care route have become jobless and homeless in the UK.
