Zainab Mansary Eze, a Sierra Leonean based in Germany, said that being a single parent abroad is not as exciting as people think. She also mentioned that she would always need a partner.
In a chat on SVTV International with DJ Nyaami, Zainab shared the difficulties of raising alone in Germany and mentioned that it would be more difficult without a partner. Despite being a single mother, Zainab is currently in a relationship.
According to Zainab, there is a chance that many people choose to be single parents for the benefits they might get from the German government.
“The system makes it easy for people to fall apart. They are more supportive of single parents. They earn more than those who work, and some people use that as an opportunity to do what they do. I’ve learned to always be submissive to a man because that is what I grew up in and what my religion tells me.
It’s not fun just being alone with two kids. A man is always needed. The world tells us women can do it, but you can’t say you don’t need a man. I can have money, but I’d still need a partner. There’s no way I can live without a partner,” she noted.
Zainab reiterated the importance of having a partner, especially for Africans living abroad.
