Katuosis, a Kenyan truck driver with dwarfism, defied all odds to secure a heavy-duty job in the US.
In a chat on SVTV International with DJ Nyaami, Katuosis revealed that he sought asylum in America, describing his struggles as a little person in Kenya and eventually got a work permit. According to him, living in the US as a person with dwarfism was easier than in Kenya. It took a year for Katuosis to decide on a career.
“I visited an office for people with disabilities to get a good job. It was an office job, but I quit two months later. I started working as an Uber and Lyft driver for three years. I liked it and then eventually started thinking of big trucks.
I realised America is a country of possibilities. Opportunities are there. Nobody will deny you the chance because you’re short. I didn’t know they would allow me until I found a little person like me who was also a truck driver.”
Katuosis eventually took classes to train for his truck driving commercial license and started his dream job. The truck is customised to suit him. He shared some benefits of his job and the difficulties as well.
His inspiring journey is a true testament to the power of determination and hard work, proving that anything is possible with the right mindset.
