Plumber and Gas Engineer Emmanuel Manu disclosed that he earns almost £800 (₵12,000) a day in the UK.
Emmanuel mentioned that he travelled to the UK as a footballer and eventually quit to learn a skill. In a Daily Hustle worldwide interview with DJ Nyaami, Emmanuel revealed the importance of having a skill abroad and how much they make daily.
After retiring from football, Emmanuel invested £10,000 in studying plumbing, recognising the importance of acquiring a skill and the potential of recouping his investment. He charges £50 to check a plumbing job and another £60 an hour to do the job.
“You will be surprised if I tell you the amount I’ve been able to recoup within the few years in plumbing work. No one determines my salary as a plumber. Someone advised me to get a skill, and I have not regretted that decision. £10,000 is a lot of money, but I knew I would recoup it.
I studied gas engineering, and I had a plumbing background. I completed two years. It is very lucrative. You can be your boss and can work with a company as well. I make £800 daily as a gas engineer,” he noted.
Emmanuel Manu expressed disappointment in some Ghanaians who work menial jobs abroad for years instead of learning a skill.
He advised Ghanaians in the UK and those who wish to travel abroad to learn a skill before leaving their home countries.
