Canada-based Ghanaian Afua stated that her ex-husband hated and maltreated her so much that she fled from their home with their kids.
Afua revealed that her ex-husband had always lived alone and could not cope with having a pregnant wife and kid at home. In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Afua indicated that he mistreated her during her first pregnancy in Ghana, but her ex-husband apologised and convinced her to join him.
“I had morning sickness throughout my pregnancy and always rejected certain foods. I felt sick most days, and my ex complained always. He brought groundnut soup to the room, and I vomited because of the smell.
My ex-husband raised me and shook me. I cried. I refused to join him in Canada because I was scared he would do the same time, but my father convinced me to go. It didn’t change when I joined him in Canada,” she recounted.
According to Afua, her ex-husband physically abused her. As a result, she decided to flee his house, but he reported her to the police for allegedly kidnapping their kids.
“He stopped taking care of the kids and made a kidnapping report when I left his house. After our divorce, he abandoned the kids and gave me full custody. He did not want to see them.”
