Mary Opoku, a Ghanaian living in Cyprus, revealed that she became a threat to her boss’s marriage because his wife felt insecure about having a woman in their house.
In a chat with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Mary revealed that she worked as a nanny in their house, but her boss’s wife felt threatened by her presence. According to Mary, she lost her job because of her insecurity.
“I worked with them for five months. His wife’s father visited and told his son-in-law to fire me. Otherwise they would take their daughter away. I was a threat to their marriage. They gave me a few weeks to leave the house, but I had nowhere to go,” she said.
Mary mentioned that she eventually returned to Ghana to stay. However, the unemployment rate in the country forced her out of Ghana and back to Cyprus.
“It wasn’t easy when I returned to Ghana. I was not comfortable being jobless for two years. I was paid 350 euros as a nanny. I didn’t pay for accommodation or anything. They gave me everything I needed. It was better than staying in Ghana,” she added.
