Quabena Benji, a Ghanaian artiste, stated that his decision to stay in the UK after his scheduled performance has been worth it.
Speaking on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Benji indicated that he decided to stay because he could not afford to return to Ghana to hustle and heeded advice from friends.
“I just couldn’t afford to return to Ghana. I have three kids and a wife. The hustle in Ghana was very tough, so I decided to stay. I can confidently say that it was worth it because many things have changed in my life, looking at all I went through in Ghana.”
According to the ‘Adoma’ hitmaker, he led a life of difficulties while in Ghana. He recounted how he left home over a misunderstanding with his father over his career choice and how his mother-in-law supported his music dream.
“During my five-year stay at my mother-in-law’s home, she provided me with food, clothing, and all necessary assistance. That woman did something for me that I’ll never forget. She sold her plot of land to shoot a music video for my 2 Sure album.”
The ‘Adoma’ hitmaker expressed gratitude towards his mother-in-law for embracing him and showing concern, in contrast to his father, who pushed him away due to his involvement in music.
