US-based Ghanaian Nana Anim has disclosed that he makes $25 per hour as a chef and $1500 on weekends.
In a chat on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Nana Anim indicated that he took advantage of the opportunities he had in the US and honed his skills to make good use of them.
“I love cooking, so I decided to make it a career. I didn’t pay for the culinary school I attended. There is a lot of money in this field but it depends on your skills. I prepare meals for six individuals every Sunday, and I charge each person $250.
At my day job, I earn more because of the skill and experience I have. I have leverage over my head chef because of certain things I learned. I work in a retirement company and make $25 per hour,” Nana said.
Speaking about living in the US, Nana Anim mentioned that he wanted to return to Ghana after a while in the US because it felt like jail.
“My parents stood by me because it would have been a waste if I had returned. I used to think about my cousin and best friend who did not get this opportunity, but I was about to waste it. That motivated it. I didn’t like school, it wasn’t for me. So I searched for something I liked, which is food,” he added.
