Abena Latest, a Ghanaian lady based in Germany revealed that she engaged in sex work out of hunger because her parents depended on her as a firstborn child.
Speaking on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Abena indicated that she was engaged in hookup intermittently for two years before travelling abroad. Abena’s friends roped her into the sex-for-money venture.
“We lived in a kiosk. My parents and younger siblings depended on me. Life was tough for us. So my friends introduced it to me. Hookup was not an everyday thing for me. I did it whenever I needed money urgently. It was out of hunger. GHS50 became a problem at a point.”
Abena shared her encounters with some clients in the hookup business. According to her, a client stole her money after a night out when she fell asleep.
“My first encounter still makes me cry and laugh. He picked me up and took me to a hotel. He paid GHS200 for two rounds and told me we could sleep in the hotel till the morning. I heard him taking a shower while I slept off.
Three hours later, the shower was still on. I was scared and thought he was a ghost. I checked with the receptionist and found out he had left. I returned to the room to find my borrowed heels gone and an empty purse. I had to borrow slippers from the receptionist.”
Now in Europe, Abena revealed that she met her German ex-husband on a dating app and eventually joined him.
