Kwame Asare, a Ghanaian living in Sweden, revealed that his Ghanaian ex-wife tried to take ownership of his house by accusing him of rape, among other charges.
In an SVTV Africa interview, Kwame revealed that in a plan to take over the house, his ex-wife consulted a lawyer and planned to falsely accuse him of rape. However, the lawyer called Kwame to caution him against what his ex-wife had planned.
“I planned to buy a house because it had always been a dream. The downpayment for the house was 250,000 Swedish Krona, and she was supposed to pay 50,000, but she could not get the money. She only paid 20,000 Krona, but on paper, we split it 50/50 because I thought we were together.
The problems began after I confronted her about her drinking and smoking habits. She did not quit the habit. I decided on divorce. My ex-wife visited a lawyer to take the house away from me, but I wanted us to sell it and split the money. Besides the rape charge, she cut herself and claimed I did it. Her lawyer called to tell me to run for my life.”
Mr Asare disclosed how they met and how his ex-wife ruined his relationship with his best friend after accusing him of sexual abuse. He said,” I met her in a mental hospital where I worked. She told me her Swedish ex-husband sexually abused her.
I eventually gave her a place to stay in my house and married her. Before our marriage, she visited my best friend’s house and claimed he tried to have sex with her, but it was all a lie. I didn’t speak to him for two years.”
According to Mr. Asare, his ex-wife intentionally burned the house after all her plans proved futile. They had to auction the house and sell it for cheap.
