Thomas Ofosu Sakyi, a Ghanaian based in the UK, indicated that many Ghanaian women have not adapted to the UK dating ‘system’ and still want men to provide for them.
Speaking on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Thomas disclosed that he is single and wants a relationship. However, he cannot date Ghanaian women there because many still have the “typical Ghanaian mentality.”
“Majority of them still believe that a man must provide everything for them. I’m not saying we must share the bills equally, but they want something as proof of love before they accept you.
The other nationalities sometimes split the bills on dates, but our women will call you stingy. All the same, I’d like to date, but it’s not a priority now,” he noted.
Thomas moved from Germany to the UK to work as a nurse. According to him, it is tougher to get a medical professional job in Germany than in the UK because of the language barrier.
He highlighted some differences in the medical in Ghana and the UK. Thomas encouraged nurses in Ghana to travel abroad because “you will stay poor in Ghana. The salaries are meagre, and many are still jobless.”
