UK-based Ghanaian Godfred Koranteng stated that work efficiency is assured at his workplace because of considerably higher salaries and good working conditions, unlike in Ghana, where employees are underpaid.
In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Godfred revealed that he had to travel abroad after his father’s real estate business (where he worked) collapsed to work to cater for his family.
After his father’s business collapsed, Godfred worked in a Supermarket and shared some working conditions there. He mentioned that Ghanaian youths are not lazy. Instead, their salaries are not worth the effort or the efficacy demanded.
“The Ghanaian youth are often perceived as lazy, but in reality, it is the system that has failed them. They make GHS400 to GHS500 monthly for all the stress they go through. It is not worth it. If they made 70 pounds a day here, they would not be forced to work even on their day off.”
“I know we can make it in Ghana, but starting a business is risky. I could lose everything. So, I decided to travel here to work and establish a business instead. Even if I lose, I can still make money to start over,” Godfred told DJ Nyaami on SVTV AFRICA.
Speaking about his father’s business, Godfred said, “My father built six houses, but they demolished all of them. That business is seasonal, so life became tougher after it collapsed. My father encouraged me to travel because I could not further my education or do anything else.”
