Indonesia-based Ghanaian Wander Musa revealed that he built a life in an Asian country and would not leave to start in a relatively richer country like the USA.
In an SVTV AFRICA interview, Wander admitted that Indonesia is not generally a country to seek greener pastures. He travelled to Malaysia to play football and eventually settled in Indonesia.
Speaking about life in the country, Wander said, “There are no menial jobs for Blacks unless professional ones like teaching or high-positioned jobs. You can’t get a permit if you’re jobless because the company files for you.”
I’m very comfortable in Indonesia. If I leave for the US or Canada, I’d have to start from zero. I’d have to work in a warehouse or at MacDonald’s, but I feel like a boss here. So it would take something big to take me out of Indonesia.”
Wander has been living in the Asian country for almost a decade. According to him, Indonesia is not a country to hustle. He revealed that foreigners holding resident permits can access amenities but cannot work.
“The company would have to give you a working permit if you want to be employed. It is not a place to hustle. Their system is very tricky, and I won’t advise anyone to come here for work,” he added.
